Acceptable.tv, VH1 (and Jack Black)'s new sketch show/website/experiment in democracy somehow slipped past me, maybe because I don't actually ever watch VH1. This might help to explain that report last week that said that most people watch about a fifth of all their cable channels: because I watch Bravo, I know about Bravo shows. Because I don't watch VH1 (except the occasional episode of I Love New York), I don't know about VH1 shows.
This is too bad, because Acceptable.tv is actually kind of good. It's basically a half-hour sketch show, with an additional layer of interactivity: each week viewers vote online for their favorite two of the five short films. Here's one of my two favorites from last week's show:
Funny, no? My only reservation is that I think the voting may lead to something like what happens on SNL: popular skits will continue to play out long after they've exhausted their few jokes. Take this one for example.
Also funny, right? But is there a joke inherent in the premise left for next week? -- Peter
