I've been meaning to post a response to last week's Law & Order: D'Onofrio, but I find myself stumped: my Aunt Judy beat me to it. "Zurgery with a Z" is the best possible line, right?
OK. So playing it straight: I think that Liza's work is actually pretty good. She didn't strike me as particularly muppety or tight and there was some range of expression left. I thought she herself did some nice work in the episode as well. In fact, the entire enterprise was thoroughly enjoyable. I'm not a Law & Order devotee; as far as I know, this was my first episode of the D'Onofrio variety. I liked what I saw. Yeah, for a police procedural, it was pretty spotty on the procedure. By all means, let's bring the confessed murderer down to the crypt to confront the victim's mother. While we're there, maybe we can get a confession from another suspect, to whom we have not even read his Miranda rights. That's completely legal and will surely hold up in court. These are probably not the reasons people watch this show, though, right? It's for the scenery-chewing? And this was Master class: Minelli, D'Onofrio, Bill Irwin, Matt McGrath, the one really evil woman guard from Oz . . . They were all awesome. I loved every minute of it. -- Pete
