Dear Jenny,
Yay! Captain Sav-a-Ho finally won a competition. I'm just beside myself. Not that I was surprised. He's been solidly good for weeks, so it was inevitable that he was going to draw attention from Ms Garcia, Ms Klum-Seal and Ms Kors eventually. The editors also telegraphed Michael's victory from the very beginning of the episode. As soon as we saw him talking to his mother on the [project-placed] phone, we knew he was either winning or being sent back to the ATL. Then his ensemble was so perfect for the assignment that we knew he wasn't going to be eliminated.
This episode was possibly the funniest this season. Diane von Furstenberg (perfect judge for this assignment, by the way -- only the incorporeal but still bitter spirit of Edith Head could have been better) had some great lines, including the slightly cringe-inducing observation about hot pants and, better still, the salty announcement that Twiggy is still alive, thank you very much, Vincent. I liked the moment when Angela upgraded her florettes to "fleurchans." What? Why? Maybe she was afraid Laura's more vivid "!@#$ing granny flowers" was going to catch on.
The fashion was good as well. I loved Angela's dress (fleurchans and all). I loved Kayne's as well. Laura got robbed, I think: her pants and blouse were not very dramatic, but they were exactly right for the competition: modern, yet true to Katharine Hepburn. Vincent's, I thought, was not as awful as the judges suggested it was. It was fun and playful and the fabric, I thought, was very now. As much as I'll miss Bradley, his koans and his dirty hair, his Cher update was just a mess, the latest in a long line. I love Alison, but I really did not care for her dress at all. I didn't get it, either. Farrah Fawcett? Really?
What did you think? Are you crying sebacious tears over Bradley or do you think maybe he should have shaved? Do you heart Michael as much as I heart Michael? Was it too much model time?
Love,
-- Pete
I love ya'lls postings about Project Runway almost as much as I love the show, but not as much as I adore Michael who I feel has been robbed of winning in a couple of the challenges. Best part of last night's show was when Jeffrey "quacked" like Laura, I think I peed myself a little bit laughing.
