Dear Jenny,
So I finally saw last week's episode of Project Runway. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I liked Kayne's dress and I was happy he won. I'm OK with Malan's departure as well. I think the editors were definitely trying to make us pity Malan, which I do, I guess, to the extent I believed either the story about his mother or the comment about never having friends, but from the perspective of the competition, he was definitely deserving of the elimination: the dress was really horrible.
I think I'm also supposed to hate Angela, but after reading Tim's Take, I don't, as much. We saw how Vincent was cutting her out of the decision-making. Considering how she was treated, her runway attack, while inappropriate and obviously doomed, was kind of understandable. That "feminazi" remark of Jeffrey's made it kind of hard to side with the boys, too.
I actually really enjoyed Angela's inept scheming during the beginning of the challenge: she alienates Kayne, the guy she wants to work with, by blathering at him non-stop while he's trying to sketch Tara Conner's dress, then she announces, "I don't draw," and asks Tara a series of inane questions: "How do you feel about an empire waist? Do you like gloves?" Exquisite.
Is it just me, or did Tara Conner seem kind of sexed-up for a pageant contestant?
Love,
-- Pete
