Big events on As the World Turns. I've been not exactly watching lately and just tuned in in time for the aftermath of Luke coming out to his parents. It actually really sucked. As I mentioned before, this storyline totally crapped out on its promising beginning and so it's not that surprising that the climactic scenes were pretty much a mess. The problem is Luke has been crowded out of the center, first by Jade, his "cousin/girlfriend" and now by his scene-stealing mother, Lily. The coming out scene was more of the same. Lily reacted to the news, kind of, but seemed more interested in talking about Jade's and Holden's betrayals than in dealing with her son. Even the closing PSA for GLAAD was, somehow, all about Lily. The Hell?
The good news: Luke looked great throughout. He's doing something a little less severe with his hair. The highlights are much improved as well. I believe Hansis is not a native New Yorker, so maybe he only just found a good colorist.
Meanwhile, more of the same on General Hospital. Lucas showed up long enough to remind his cousin Maxie (Kirsten Storms) that he's gay and listen to her endless blathering about her dumb life. Maxie is maybe the funniest character on GH. All her scenes are like that: someone confides in her and she just says, "Uh-huh. That's like me and Jesse. The thing is . . ." What's odd is that I think we're supposed to find her sympathetic rather than obnoxious.
