Hi Jenny --
Is it just me or was last night's Project Runway a little boring? Wait. It wasn't boring, but it wasn't quite up to the standard of the last few weeks and I can't think of anything to write about it. That won't stop me from throwing up a few slapdash thoughts, though. This is a blog, after all.
1. The only really dramatic makeover was Santino's. It was good, though. That was the one I'd been really itching for all season. Collier Strong could have gone a lot further. Also, I wanted Collier to shave off Nick's goatee. So what would you make over on me?
2. I'm sad about Nick. I thought I'd be ready for him to go, but I'm not. Also, as much as I've been fighting this very reductive analogy, I can't anymore. Santino is this year's Wendy Pepper.
3. This was a very bad week for Heidi. It sounded like all of her dialogue was looped. So that was weird and made me suspicious. Then I hated that black thing she was wearing at the end. What was that?
4. That said, I love Heidi. I think she's great. Somehow, I had no idea who she was until last season (and thought she was Molly Sims), but she's phenomenal. Remember ten years or so ago, during the Age of the Supermodels? Well, I was just thinking, what if this show had debuted way back then? Which of the Supermodels would you have wanted to host Project Runway? I think I know your answer. I would have wanted one of those junky ones, like Jenny Shimizu or James King, only pre-rehab. Or Janice Dickinson, except I'm not positive she existed before Top Model. Or Cindy Crawford, who, yeah, is the opposite of those girls, but you know I've always been a fan.
Love,
-- Pete
P.S. I forgot to comment on that catsuit Santino crammed poor Kara into. I liked the part on the runway when Santino kept talking about how excited Kara was about the damned thing; Kara, meanwhile, was hunched next to him, looking like she was trying not to think about what she saw in the woodshed. I think my mother made an outfit like that for my sister (and yes, me, as well -- shut up!), but Mom's work was much better.
